Why Colour Matters on Timber Windows
The colour of your windows defines the face of your home. Get it right and the whole elevation lifts. Get it wrong — or worse, use a flat trade paint that fades in two summers — and even the best joinery looks tired. Farrow & Ball colours are the standard for London’s period properties because their depth and complexity suit the architecture. A front door in Hague Blue or windows in Railings look fundamentally different from the same colours in Dulux or Crown.
How We Match Farrow & Ball
We do not use Farrow & Ball paint directly on our windows. Farrow & Ball is formulated for interior walls and exterior masonry — it is not designed for timber joinery exposed to weather. Instead, we colour-match every Farrow & Ball shade into Sikkens or Teknos microporous timber coatings. These coatings are specifically engineered for exterior joinery: they flex with the wood as it expands and contracts, allow moisture vapour to escape, and resist UV degradation far longer than conventional paint.
The result is the exact Farrow & Ball colour you want, in a coating system that will last 8–12 years before needing a maintenance coat. Standard exterior paint on timber typically needs attention after 3–5 years.

Dual Colour Option
You are not limited to the same colour inside and out. Many clients choose a period-appropriate colour for the exterior (Railings, Off-Black, or a conservation-approved shade) with a lighter interior colour (Wimborne White, All White, or Pointing) to maximise natural light inside. Our factory spray process handles dual-colour finishing as standard — masks are applied between coats to achieve a clean, sharp division at the frame rebate.
