At Prime Sash Windows, we manufacture bespoke timber French doors as single doors or paired leaves, opening inward or outward, built to your exact dimensions.

Unlike mass-produced uPVC alternatives, our timber French doors are built from engineered Accoya or hardwood — dimensionally stable, rot-resistant, and guaranteed for decades. The result is a door with authentic proportions, narrow sightlines, and the warm character that only real timber provides.

Specification

• Configuration — single door or French pair (double). Sequential opening on French pairs.
• Opening — inward or outward opening. Frame automatically mirrors for inward configuration.
• Timber — engineered Accoya or hardwood. 50-year rot guarantee (Accoya).
• Glazing — double glazed 4/16/4 (U-value 1.4) or triple glazed.
• Security — PAS24 multi-point locking on both leaves. Shoot bolts top and bottom.
• Weather bar — 40mm × 30mm aluminium weather bar for outward-opening doors.
• Threshold — Standard hardwood, aluminium low-profile, or flush.
• Colour — any RAL colour, full Farrow & Ball range. Dual colour available.
• Glazing bars — Georgian bars, cottage bars, or plain glass.

French Doors for Period Properties

French doors have been a feature of British architecture since the 17th century. In Conservation Areas and Listed buildings, replacements must match the original style — narrow meeting stiles, period-correct moulding profiles, and authentic proportions. Our French doors replicate these details precisely while incorporating modern performance features: multi-point locking, draught seals, and thermally efficient glazing.

For period properties, we can add Georgian glazing bars — either planted (applied to the glass surface) or through-bars (integrated into the frame). Both options are available in our 3D configurator.
